Meaning
The testes are a pair of organs in the male reproductive system located behind the penis in the scrotum responsible for making sperm.
About the Testes
- The testes are found inside a sack called the scrotum.
- The testes are outside the body instead of inside because sperm need to be kept cooler than body temperature to survive.
- The testes are always making new sperm.

About Testes in the Male Repdroductive System
- The testes produce the male gamete known as sperm.
- The testes are found inside a sack called the scrotum.
- During ejaculation the sperm cells leave the testes via the sperm duct.
About the Testes as Endocrine Glands
- The testes secrete a hormone called testosterone.
- Testosterone causes the expression of male characteristics during puberty including muscle growth, growth of facial hair and the deepening of the voice.
