Key Stage 5

Meaning

An up-quark (u) is a type of quark with a charge of \(+\frac{2}{3}\).

About Up-quarks

There are two up-quarks in a proton and only one up-quark in a neutron.
Quark Charge/e Strangeness Baryon Number Lepton Number

Up-quark

\(Q=+\frac{2}{3}\) \(S=0\) \(B=+\frac{1}{3}\) \(L=0\)

Antiup-quark

\(Q=-\frac{2}{3}\) \(S=0\) \(B=-\frac{1}{3}\) \(L=0\)
