Meaning
Survival means to stay alive without dying.
- Verb: To survive
About Survival
All living creatures need water and food to survive:
- All living things need to take in water to stop them from drying out. Without water plants can wilt and die while animals get dehydrated and die.
- All living things need to take in food to grow, move and survive. Without food a plants and animals will starve and die.
Living creatures that live on land also need oxygen in the air to survive.
- All land creatures need to take in oxygen. If they don't they will die in a few minutes.
- Dolphins, Whales and seals all get oxygen from the air too, but they hold their breath for a long time to go under water.
- Fish do not breath, but they still need oxygen. They use gills to get the oxygen that is in the water.
