Key Stage 4
Meaning
Closed systems are systems in which mass cannot get in or out, but energy can.
About Systems
- A system is an object or a group of objects being studied.
- In closed systems energy can enter and escape. This may appear as an increase or a decrease in temperature caused by the surroundings but not by the system.
- In a closed system mass cannot enter and leave.
- In these closed systems the law of Conservation of Mass can be observed but the law of Conservation of Energy cannot.
