Meaning

The backbone (spine) of a human.

A vertebrate is an animal with a backbone.

About Vertebrates

A vertebrate animal has a spine running down its back.
Vertebrate animals usually also have a ribcage.
There are 5 groups of vertebrates:

  • Fish
  • Mammal
