Meaning
Soil is a mixture of rocks and parts of dead creatures that have rotted.
About Soil
- There are many different types of soil which depends on what rocks they are made from.
- Soil can have either sand, volcanic ash (clay), ancient seashells (chalk) or no rock in it.
- All soils have dead animal and plant material in them.
- * Chalky Soil has chalk inside it and is light brown.
- * Clay Soil is made mostly of volcanic ash and is either red-orange or blue-grey.
- * Peat is a soil without any rock material in it and is very dark brown or black.
- * Sandy Soil is made mostly of sand and is a light brown colour.
