Meaning
A genetic cross diagram is a diagram that can be used to show the probability of offspring inheriting certain phenotypical traits.
About Genetic Cross Diagrams
- Genetic cross diagrams can be used with breeding to determine if a parent has a homozygous pair of dominantalleles or a heterozygous pair of alleles. If two parent organisms produce enough offspring the fraction of offspring with particular phenotypes can indicate the genotype of the parents.
A genetic cross diagram showing the different offspring from one heterozygous brown eyed parent and one homozygous blue eyed parent. |
